So I got into the beta for the star trek online (STO) mmorpg game and well not very impressed with what they got going. I understand that it is a beta and as such there are bound to be bugs, glitches or other anomalies with the system. Except that by todays standards when a game is only about a week from release then maybe the vast majority of the bugs should be fixed before the game goes live and well they likely won't be. Bugs aside the game wasn't very fun either and had a real feeling of just being slapped together.

A little while ago I had the task of creating a break out clone, but was only given 24hrs to get as far as possible with it. This is the result of the 24hr session. Written in C++ with the SDL libraries, specifically for mac OSX. Other than basic functionality for a break out clone this more of a rough draft than a completed game. |

Apparently at some point not too long ago Blizzard released a bunch of rules for Mods. Those rules can be found here. Now this is a good thing a really good thing for that matter as there has been a fair amount of Mods going in all kinds of directions including a couple that you had to purchase the premium version. Really it is up to blizzard to make the final determination on what kind of practices are allowed and which are not in regards to writing Mods. |

Yes its true, at least in my general opinion. Several conversations and articles later I keep hearing that the reason why linux isn't more mainstream desktop is because of advertising and I have to disagree with this point pretty completely. Look at apple, they run advertising campaigns all the time, they have a percentage of the market share however that percentage is still rather low by all accounts. Now knowing that can one still make the argument that the only reason why neither apple nor linux have a larger market share is because of advertising. |

So finally after about 6 months or so I got around to updating my World of Warcraft mod xcalc. Originally this mod I was using to learn a bit about lua and such, but as it turned out a fair amount of people wanted a calculator in wow and such. The update was not much more than some bug fixes I really didn't add any features to the bill, there is only so many things that I can do at this point with it that might be useful like maybe a history of the last several calculations performed, and some better control on what kind of calculations can be performed. |
